Touch

Sketch design commissioned by the municipality of Stompetoren for their new village square. Just as lily pads in a narrow canal touch each other while still finding their own space, the lives of residents in a small community intertwine while allowing each other room to exist. I found these leaves to be a beautiful symbol of a close-knit village community. The curved shape of the piece evokes a sense of warmth and shelter. The bench is designed to bring people together in the heart of the village.
